It is vitally important that Dealers are aware of their rights and protections under California law. The California Vehicle Code sets forth a number of Dealer protection laws designed to guard against the abusive and oppressive practices of manufacturers. The New Motor Vehicle Board maintains exclusive jurisdiction over certain claims that provide Dealers the right to file a Protest against a variety of manufacturer actions. Dealers are advised to immediately consult counsel when confronted with a manufacturer action that might result in potential harm to a dealership and the Dealer’s substantial investment.
